Description

Human hematopoietic stem cells and mesenchymal stem cells are characterized by their self-renewing capacity and ability to differentiate into chondrocytes, adipocytes, and osteocytes. This makes them attractive candidates for use in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

Following cell transplantation, relatively few transplanted cells live or localize to the site of interest. in vivo. Therefore, effective cell therapies may incorporate secreted cell factors such as exosomes, which can be secreted upon fusion with the plasma membrane.

According to publications available today :

  • Exosomes contain protein and RNA
  • They may be a source of paracrine signals from stem cells
  • Exosomal protein and RNA may be modified to desired specifications
  • Exosomes are stable products and may bypass many of the limitations of cultured cells
